The Digital Unlock Sequence
Denmark's digital infrastructure has strict dependencies — you cannot skip steps. CPR unlocks MitID. MitID unlocks banking. Banking unlocks NemKonto. NemKonto unlocks salary. Getting the sequence wrong means weeks of delays as you untangle prerequisites.

- Sundhedskort + GP registration confirmed
- Register CPR at Borgerservice with passport, permit, and rental contract (Day 1)
- Wait for MitID activation letter (1–2 weeks), then activate at Borgerservice
- Open a bank account and designate it as NemKonto at nemkonto.dk
- Activate Digital Post at borger.dk and download e-Boks + Mit.dk apps
- Set up MobilePay with your bank account and phone number
- Check your tax card (forskudsopgoerelse) at skat.dk and correct if needed

Must-Have Apps for Daily Life
Denmark runs on apps. You need at least 8 apps installed within your first month. Missing even one can cause real problems — for example, without the Sundhedskort app you cannot prove your health coverage at a pharmacy, and without MobilePay you cannot split a restaurant bill.

Pre-Arrival
What to Do Before You Arrive
The most prepared expats start their setup 2–3 months before landing. Several steps can be completed from abroad: applying for your work/study permit, securing housing, booking your Borgerservice appointment, and getting an apostille on key documents.
