Consumer Protection in Denmark

Danish consumer law (Kobeloven) provides strong protections. You have a 24-month warranty on all goods, a 14-day return right for online purchases, and the right to a repair or replacement before a refund. The burden of proof is on the seller for the first 12 months.

How to File a Complaint

Denmark has a well-structured consumer complaint system. Start with the seller directly. If unresolved, use the sector-specific complaint board (ankenævn) or the general Forbrugerklagenaevnet. Most complaints are resolved within 90 days and decisions are binding on the business.

Price Transparency & Product Safety

Danish law requires all prices to be displayed including VAT (moms) at 25%. Unit pricing (per kg/litre) is mandatory in supermarkets. The Danish Safety Technology Authority (Sikkerhedsstyrelsen) handles product recalls and safety alerts.
